Homosassa is located in central Florida on the west coast. The
area is also known as the Nature Coast and it is the start of the
Big Bend Area. The Homosassa River holds an excellent fish
population, snook, tarpon, sea trout, redfish, jacks and mangrove
snapper enticed by its warm spring fed waters. To the north is the
Ozello and to the south is the Chassahowiztka River and National
Wildlife Refuge all are pristine backcountry fishing areas.
Traveling west on the river you will reach the Gulf of Mexico
where the crystal clear flats extend for miles, Rich with grass flats
and oyster and rock bars teaming with endless species of game
fish. In the summer theses areas open for scallop fishing,
collected by snorkeling and gathering scallops by net or hand (see
rates for scallop charters). You will find that Homosassa, Florida
is one of the finest scalloping areas in Florida
Homosassa has been a Florida fishing vacation destination for

Winslow Homer.
